If you find yourself in Osaka, Japan you might feel more at home than you’d imagine. That’s because Universal Studios Japan actually has an entire area in the theme park that’s a mini replica of New York City, set in the 1930s.
The massive theme park just celebrated its 22nd anniversary and was awarded the 2022 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best for Top Amusement Parks & Water Parks in Asia!
Park goers can stroll down what 5th Avenue or Delancey Street would have looked like nearly a century ago, passing recreations of significant landmarks. Fun fact: did you know the Empire State Building was actually built in 1930?
The mini city boasts New York-style dining options from pizza parlors to vintage saloons. Visitors can even find New York souvenirs from the nearby shops.
Attractions like The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man 4K3D ride can be found in this section of the park. Blending imagination and reality, riders will fly through New York City just like Spider-Man on the immersive motion simulator with sudden drops, wild turns and 3D effects. Or, visitors can check out stunt show, Terminator 2: 3D, where they’ll go face to face with the Terminator as giant motorbikes appear to accelerate out of the screen!
The New York area of Universal Studios Japan also hosts a 42 Street Studio: Greeting Gallery, Bubble Beat Block and Fiesta Latina street festival.
Other U.S. cities can be explored at the park with a mini San Francisco and Hollywood on the premise as well!
So if you ever find yourself homesick in Osaka, Japan, just head over to Universal Studios for a little piece of home.
