Trans Art Bazaar, NYC’s very first trans/non-binary artisan market, is celebrating the trans experience this weekend with incredible vendors at House of Yes. Taking place on Sunday, July 9th, explore works from dozens of trans creatives all day long, from 1-7pm.
The artisan market began in April 2022 with founder E-Lorraine, who threw herself into her small business after facing a difficult recovery from facial feminization surgery. The surgery, which she had been working towards for five years “wasn’t the ball of trans bliss she had hoped for.” With a medley of medical complications and slow healing, E-Lorraine came to realize that she lacked a trans support system and community.
As she discovered “purpose and direction” in creating, she found there was nowhere with trans representation to sell her art. Therefore, the Trans Art Bazaar was born to give the trans community an opportunity and space to sell. Trans Art Bazaar intends to “create a space where many trans creatives can strive and build an event out of celebrating trans joy.”
With events all over the country, Trans Art Bazaar has given more than 200 trans/nb vendors a platform to share their work. Each event features new mediums, people and artists.
The upcoming market on July 9th will have drinks, art and a raffle giving away pieces from some of the participating artists.
If you can’t make it this weekend, there will be additional bazaars on October 22, and December 17th.
