NYC called upon all “rodent men” doppelgängers — no, not actual rats — to partake in a “Timothée Chalamet Look Alike Competition” on Sunday, October 27th in Washington Square Park.
A flier announcing the competition went viral on X in late September, with a QR code linking to a Partiful event with more details. But the viral the announcement doesn’t even compare to the internet sensation that arose when the actor actually showed up.
The Dune and Wonka star crashed the party, much to fans’ and competitors’ delight. He walked right into the crowd with bodyguards while posing for pictures. Yes, the real Timothée Chalamet did stand up.
The event turned out to be quite the hit thanks to the OG, but it started on shaky ground, as NYPD officers and Parks Department reps removed the crowd from the Washington Square Park Arch, its intended location, made an arrest, and fined the organizer. However, once the competition moved over to Mercer Playground, all went according to plan — and dare we say better than the plan thanks to Timothée’s arrival.
Although the actor, who was recently filming Marty Supreme on the Lower East Side, is a NYC native, he hadn’t commented on the event until his arrival. A pleasant surprise everyone in the West Village seemed to appreciate. Ultimately, a 21-year-old named Miles Mitchell took home the cash prize of $50 — another viral tidbit from the event — and won the lookalike contest, but it’s safe to say he might’ve been dethroned!
By the way, if you’re still unsure what we mean by hot rodent men, it’s an internet trend that sparked from the eerily similar comparison to the latest celebrity heart throbs to rodent counterparts. To be clear, it’s not all about rats. Some stars resemble more of a capybara or squirrel. So, who makes up this group of rodent-like men do you ask? Stars like Barry Keoghan, Mike Faist, Jeremy Allen White and of course, maybe the most rodent of the hot rodent men, Timothée Chalamet.
