Not only is NYC home to countless of hardworking people, but it’s also home to some hardworking pups like this precious floof!
This adorable 18-month-old Bernese mountain dog, Fiona, has just become the American Kennel Club’s millionth “Canine Good Citizen.” Sweet Fiona spends her days in Brooklyn as a comfort dog at the Marine Park Funeral Home. Her owner, Nora Pavone, put Fiona into the American Kennel Club’s CGC training program at only 9 weeks old because she “knew if Fiona was going to be working with families in the Funeral Home, [she] wanted her held to that same standard.” That standard being the American Kennel Club’s “gold standard of behavior for dogs” in the community.
The Canine Good Citizen program began in 1989 and now, 30 years later, there are officially one million good boys/girls! Even though, in our hearts, every pup is the good-est. The program accepts all dogs of any age, and teaches pets to be well-behaved and polite.
