This New Alpine Ski Rooftop Pop-Up Will Cure All Of Your Post-Holiday Blues

Cozy rooftop pop-ups are synonymous with the winter season in NYC, and for good reason! We need some kind of respite from the cold wind through the streets, short daylight hours and post-holiday blues that set in during January.

Luckily even if you don’t have travel plans, you can still be transported to an après-ski winter wonderland inspired by all-inclusive Alpine ski resorts at the Mondrian Alpine Terrace by Club Med. Pretend you’re in a snug European ski resort at the Mondrian Park Ave’s all-season 15th floor rooftop space now through February 1, 2020.

The takeover for the space was inspired by Club Med’s 17 all-inclusive resorts in the Alpine regions of France, Italy and Switzerland.

They’re channeling those upscale ski resorts and cozy chalets with frosted windows and twinkle lights, ample lounge-style seating and cozy faux fur blankets, pinecone centerpieces, artificial snow and an antler chandelier. There is even a ski lift chair photo booth with a panoramic view of the snowcapped Alpine mountain range as a backdrop with skis, boots and snow! The space was curated by Amy Shey Jacobs of Chandelier Events.

Even the food and drink is inspired by the cuisine in quaint European mountain villages. Alpine bites include Swiss raclette fondue, assorted meat and cheese boards and tartines with burrata, prosciutto and figs. Handcrafted cocktails feature seasonal winter flavors like rosemary, pear, cranberry, maple and apples with themed names like the “Lift Pass Old Fashioned,” “Hearthside Char” and the “Black Diamond Flask.” Plus there’s hot mulled wine, and a twist on frozen hot chocolate (spiked with tequila)!
