We’re used to seeing the Empire State Building light up the sky for special occasions, but the Vessel in Hudson Yards is now joining in on the illuminated fun and shining red for Lunar New Year!
In honor of the Chinese Lunar New Year this weekend (January 25), Hudson Yards has planned a handful of activities and surprises for New Yorkers to enjoy. One of these exciting new events includes the lighting of the Vessel!
The Vessel was first lit up in red on Wednesday night (January 22), and then again on Thursday night for the special occasion. This is the first time the new, unofficial NYC landmark is lighting up for a holiday since it opened in March 2019.
The LED lights at the base of the interactive installation will light up all 154 flights and 2,500 steps in a gorgeous red. While we haven’t heard how long it will last, we’re assuming it’ll continue to light up through the end of the week-long celebrations.
