Nothing beats a good game of Cornhole or Kan Jam on a warm summer day, but each year there comes a time when the temperatures start to drop and we have to say our sad goodbyes to these lawn games–and yes, as much as we hate to admit it, a frosty, flakey, and slushy winter is heading to NYC.
But thanks to this new spot we no longer have to put our competitive sides to rest just because summer’s over!
The Lawn Club has officially opened its doors in NYC’s Seaport neighborhood, becoming the city’s premier destination for playing indoor lawn games year-round with a drink in-hand. That’s right–you can essentially rent out your own mini-backyard!
The space is covered in 15,000-square-feet-worth of synthetic grass, where New Yorkers can play a variety of games including Bocce, Cornhole, Croquet, Shuffleboard, Beersbee, Kan Jam, and Putting Pool (a game that’s only offered at Lawn Club).
Dedicated “lawncierges” will ensure your visit goes smoothly, ushering guests from the clubhouse to the court, setting up gaming equipment, and providing tips on technique, rules, scorekeeping, and more–so you won’t have to worry that your friends are trying to cheat!
Each lawn comes complete with its own big screen TV, allowing guests to choose what they want to watch–yes, you can watch the game while playing games–along with board games.
And, if you’re the type of person who works up an appetite from some friendly (or not) competition, head to one of the two large bars to order bites like fried mac and cheese balls, mini pizza bagels, wings, burgers, and a selection of sweet desserts.
…or just give yourself some liquid luck by way of a cocktail, like the Lawntini made with Grey Goose strawberry and lemongrass essences and lemon, Kiss the Jack with Sazerac Rye, amaretto, egg whites, and orange blossom, or the Basil Dinger with Bacardi Cuatro, thai basil, lime, and simple syrup.
Mocktails, beer, wine, and canned cocktails will also be offered.
Lawn Club is open Wednesday 4 p.m. – 12 a.m., Thursday 3 p.m. – 1 a.m., Friday 3 p.m. – 2 a.m., Saturday 12 p.m. – 2 a.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
