The movies are having a big moment right now between the juggernauts of Wicked and Gladiator II…and there’s even a new player entering the scene next week in the highly regarded The Brutalist.
The Brady Corbet-directed film follows the tale of a visionary architect László Toth and his wife who flee 1947 post-war Europe to rebuild a life in America. When he finally settles in Pennsylvania, he meets a wealthy industrialist named Harrison Lee Van Buren who changes the couples’ lives forever with a project.
The film is on track to release to the public on December 20th, but NYC will be hosting some early screenings on December 18th & 19th.
Where to see The Brutalist in 70mm
What’s fascinating about The Brutalist is it was filmed in VistaVision, a high-resolution format with a wider field of view, allowing for enhanced clarity when projected in 70mm. This means it’s rare to find many theaters that stream it the way it’s supposed to be seen!
In NYC though two theaters are showing The Bruatlist early in 70mm! See the times below:
- Thursday, December 19th – 10:40 pm at Village East by Angelika
- Thursday, December 19th – 6 pm & 10:45 pm at AMC Lincoln Square 13
* note that Village East by Angelika & AMC Lincoln Square 13 will be screening 70mm daily after release day
