The weather is finally warming up and summer is on its way–a hotter and rainier one at that–and you know what that means: after months of hibernation NYC’s favorite adrenaline-fueled speedboat ride, The Beast, is hitting the water once again! And this season it’s bringing something brand new to the harbor.
The Beast is NYC’s only jet-powered speed boat ride, delivering heart-pounding excitement to thrill seekers and daredevils looking to catch a glimpse of NYC at maximum speed. Those brave enough to board will get to soak in stunning NYC views while simultaneously getting the ultimate adrenaline rush.
The speedboat’s 27th season officially kicks off this weekend, Saturday, May 3rd, racing riders down the waterways to the iconic Statue of Liberty and back. Powered by 1400 horsepower engines, this 70-foot-long “rollercoaster on the water” races down the Hudson River at the heart-pounding speed of 40 knots (~45 mph).
Along the 30-minute journey, the speedboat’s wild crew keeps the energy sky-high with music, laughs, and spontaneous water-spraying antics, so be prepared for epic splashes—especially if you sit in the back! Embrace the thumping music, crashing waves, and the ride’s many twists and turns–and if you’re wearing a hat or sunglasses be sure to hold on tight to them!
And beyond the high-speed thrills The Beast is bringing us a whole new experience this season: the BEAST’ro, an exclusive themed dining experience on Pier 81 with over-the-top eats, drinks, and soft-serve treats. BEAST’ro offers the perfect opportunity to fuel up pre-cruise (and maybe grab some liquid courage) or wind down after the wild ride. Menu highlights include:
- Monstrous food selections like nachos, hot dogs, beast-sized pretzels, pizzas, sandwiches, and a pickle on a stick
- Refreshing Thrilla’ Vanilla and Beastberry soft serve ice cream and slushies
- A full bar serving beer, wine, spirits, and signature cocktails like the Speeders Spritz and Rocket Fuel
The BEAST’ro also features a “Victory Wall” where brave riders can commemorate their thrill ride with a photo and grab exclusive merchandise. Craig Kanarick, CEO for New York Cruise Lines, stated:

The Beast cruises depart every hour between 11 am and 7 pm Tuesday through Sunday. Tickets start at $34 for adults and $25 for children.
