Target has an overwhelming retail presence not only nationwide but citywide as well. Their stronghold on retail goods keeps getting stronger as they continue to expand into new locations across NYC.
According to sources, Target is planning to open three small-format stores in NYC- one in New York’s Upper East Side neighborhood, one in Staten Island and the last in Astoria, Queens. This initiative is a part of the company’s plan to run 130 small-format stores by the end of the year. At the moment, Target already has two small-format stores up and running in Manhattan—with two more opening this summer.
In a statement Mark Schindele, senior vice president of Target’s properties said, “All three of these new stores will offer the best of Target in that borough, yet curate the assortment to meet the needs and preferences of the nearby community.”
Plan for these store fronts vary in their timeline. The Upper East Side store will open in 2019. The Staten Island store at Forest Avenue Plaza is also set for next year. The Astoria location, near Ditmars Boulevard and 23rdAvenue, will open by 2022.
