Earlier this year it was announced that there would be two Taco Bell cantinas opening in Manhattan by the end of the year. However, that has now increased to three.
Until now, Manhattan had two urban in-line locations, at 1258 Lexington Ave and 312 First Ave, with another in Bushwick at 1359 Broadway and three Cantinas at 1034 Flatbush Ave, Yankee Stadium, and 491 Nostrand Ave.
While the Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea locations have already opened and have been serving alcoholic beverages with their tacos, there’s a Midtown location in the works expected to open before the end of the year. The cantina will be located at 500 Eighth Ave. As SecretNYC previously mentioned: The additions to New York City come as part of Taco Bell’s “plan to open 1,000 new domestic restaurants by 2022 – 300 of which will be Urban In-Line or Cantina concepts, and 125 of which will be in New York City and the surrounding boroughs.”
However, according to a recent report by Eater, the newest addition will offer unique menu items like a “seven-layer dip,” “nacho boxes,” and new Freeze flavors. There are also plans for the space to include a retail store as well as the ability for people to change the restaurant’s music from their phones (are we the only ones who see how this can go wrong?).
Regardless, the concept certainly seems interesting! And we can’t wait to get our own Taco Bell merch.
