SoHo’s sexy little secret is out, as the newest R-rated bakery, Sugar Wood, just opened its doors last Friday (6/25) for its soft opening in NYC.
Located at 157 Prince Street, Sugar Wood is the newest addition to the naughty dessert fad that’s been arousing quite a following across major cities around the world, including Bangkok, Spain, Paris, London, Copenhagen and Toronto.
The shop comes from queer celebrity baker and Magnolia Bakery executive Tom Smallwood in partnership with The Phluid Project, supporting marginalized LGBTQIA+ communities.
“We are queer and ally-founded company that seeks to bring some levity into the world during serious times,” co-founder and CEO Austin Allan describes. “At the same time, we have a mission to destigmatize sex and gender stereotypes through our products. Our penis and vagina waffles don’t reinforce a gender binary: They champion fun and self-expression at its expense.”

Turning food trends into actionable support, Sugar Wood will donate a minimum of $1,000 of its monthly revenue to the Phluid Phoundation and its aligned charities such as Ali Forney Center and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.
Intrigued individuals can check out the bakery this week (Thursday-Sunday), with hours expected to expand after July 6th.
Customers can order a “Woody” (penis-shaped) or “Kitty” (vagina-shaped) waffle either naked, dripped or drizzled in a variety of sauces including milk chocolate, peanut butter, salted caramel, strawberry, and white chocolate. Ice cream options are expected to be added to the menu later in the summer.
Sugar Wood swag is also available for purchase like their flavor tote bag, logo crop top, or Sugar Wood t-shirt.
As for the interior, Lisbon-born, NYC-based graphic artist, Bráulio Amado, displays their erotic take on the iconic NYC celebrity mural wall with, how do you say, some rather phallic influences…
There’s even a penis-shaped wall cut-out that peeks into the kitchen!
The sex positive shop is sure to shock and you can learn more about it through their Instagram or on their website.
