If you’re getting sick of catching the sun rising from your apartment, there are other ways to see it all around the city…
And no, we don’t mean old photos! You can catch a beautiful livestream of the sun rising over the NYC skyline every morning from a prime spot…the Statue of Liberty.
EarthCam, which shares live video feeds of locations all over the world, has a live cam set up in and around the famous NYC landmark. You can click around from views of New York Harbor, the top of Lady Liberty’s crown, towards Ellis Island, a front view of the full statue, or even inside the torch! That area hasn’t been visited since 1916 when it was permanently closed to New Yorkers for safety reasons after a nearby explosion.
We especially love it for the camera’s due East view right into the sunrise. Okay, so you would have to get up at around 5:45…but with a cup of coffee on the weekend, how magical would that be?
If not, you can always catch screenshots later on in their “Hall of Fame” section (just scroll down).
