Times Square has a love/hate relationship with NYC. It’s the iconic view of the city that most visitors want to see, and the overcrowded tourist trap most locals avoid.
Still, the view of it nowadays starkly contrasts any walk you’ve taken there, whether to rush through to get to a Broadway play or to take a picture in front of the 2020 ball.
EarthCam, which shares live video feeds of locations all over the world, has a live cam set up in one of the most-visited spots in the city, and right now, it looks like a completely different world.
You can click around into all different views of Times Square, from the famous TKTS Booth for discount Broadway tickets, now empty, to the Pedestrian Plaza, Duffy Square, and along Broadway.
Most times of the day, you’ll see a few people (in masks) taking a walk, a few random taxis, and some traffic cops/police officers. One sweet note: someone arranged the red and white bistro tables to read “I ❤ New York.”
One thing’s for sure: there are no costumed characters to be seen.
