NYC is full of some pretty incredible speakeasies, but sometimes we’d like to swap out the tequila for something a bit more *healthy,* and this new wellness speakeasy is making that possible.
NYC’s newest wellness center and contemporary yoga studio, SOUK, recently opened at 12 West 27th Street, cofounded by longtime NYC yoga teachers Rima Rabbath and Monica Jaggi.
But the studio is more about just getting down(ward dog)–it’s about sipping on healthy tonics too, as SOUK is home to NYC’s first wellness speakeasy, Elahni, co-founded by Keane Tan and Nick Rizk.
That means after you’re done breaking a sweat via sun salutations–under a glittering disco ball, no less–you can hop in the sauna, cool off in an ice bath, and then grab an adaptogenic tonic at Elahni’s bar!
Through Elahni, SOUK is working to build upon its quintessential New York roots while also reimagining wellness and providing New Yorkers with a wellness experience that makes sense to them.
SOUK has brought together teachers from around the world representing the most significant lineages of yoga–and what’s created is a physical manifestation of Rima’s vision to create an inclusive gathering space for people to come together, practice yoga of different lineages, and explore the vast potential of their mind and body.
Classes are accessible to all levels of practitioners and draw from ancient teachings, addressing the vast spectrum of New Yorkers’ wellness needs and giving each person the space and acceptance to find their version of balance.
Classes are offered both in-person and via livestream, and workshops and retreats are also offered (such as, get this, a week-long yoga retreat in Portugal!)
More information regarding SOUK and their class schedule including Elahni can be found here.
