Slutty Vegan began out of founder and CEO, Pinky Cole’s, two-bedroom apartment in Atlanta via Instagram back in 2018. Since then, the establishment has garnered quite the following, as Brooklyn’s grand opening only proved that.
On September 18th, Slutty Vegan hosted their grand opening party at 690 Fulton Street. A massive line had formed outside the entrance, so long that some people on the queue had even brought chairs to sit in while they waited. It became so packed that Slutty Vegan eventually had to cut the line short because they were entirely sold out.
The menu features “slutty burgers” made from either Impossible or BeyondMeat and sides like Skinny Dippers (fried pickles with blackberry mayo sauce) & Slutty Fries (covered in their signature Slut Dust).
Each item has a brazen name like the
lant-based patty loaded with vegan bacon, vegan shrimp, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and our Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun), egan chopped Philly with jalapeños, bell peppers and caramelized onions, topped with vegan provolone, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and vegan mayo, on a hoagie roll), and the lant-based patty loaded with vegan bacon, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and their Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun).Cole created Slutty Vegan to “[open] the conversation on vegan food options for people who have never considered them.” When the project first began, people in her community were facing “high numbers in hypertension, cholesterol, obesity, and a host of other food-borne ailments.” Slutty Vegan serves as a fun food alternative to battle such health issues.
Growing from taking orders via Instagram, Cole’s first grand opening in 2018 attracted 1,200 people who were willing to stand in 45-degree weather for a taste of the now vegan restaurant sensation. Similar dedication has been shown for each location opening, and Brooklyn’s was no different.
