New Yorkers will argue about pizza and bagels until the end of time, but our local burger scene officially has some serious bragging rights. A newly released ranking of the “World’s 101 Best Burgers” just confirmed that NYC dominates on a global scale.
Eight local spots made the prestigious 2026 list. However, one West Village newcomer officially cracked the global top 10.
Meet the world’s 6th best burger
Coming in at number six worldwide is Sip & Guzzle. This bi-level cocktail haven has been turning heads with its bespoke drinks, but the food is completely stealing the show.
Created by chefs Mike Bagale and Isaac Leidenfrost, this isn’t your average late-night bite. Their decadent Miyazaki A5 Wagyu burger has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about splurges.
Why is it so exclusive?
If you want to try this culinary masterpiece, you need to be quick. Sip & Guzzle serves a strict limit of just 12 of these burgers per day.
The patty is crafted entirely from 100% A5 Wagyu. Specifically, the kitchen uses the premium scraps left over from their highly coveted “Royale with cheese” wagyu sando to form the burger. To top it all off, the melt-in-your-mouth meat is nestled inside a perfectly soft bun sourced locally from Breads Bakery.
A backstory rooted in history
The concept behind Sip & Guzzle is just as rich as its menu. The bar’s story is inspired by the very first Japanese consulate’s visit to the United States in 1860.
During that historic trip, 77 samurai made their way to New York City and frequented Jerry Thomas’ legendary Broadway bar. Sip & Guzzle imagines an alternate history where those worldly samurai returned to Tokyo and opened an American-style pub. The result is a vibrant space that blends the absolute best of New York and Japan into one unforgettable experience.
