It’s no secret to most NYers that Hillary Clinton beat the president-elect, Donald Trump, in their mutual hometown of NYC in the 2016 Election. Despite losing the election Clinton doesn’t plan on leaving the New York zeitgeist any time soon.
Rumor has it that the former presidential hopeful, and ex-secretary of state, could be make a run for Mayor of NYC in the 2017 mayoral election. That would mean she’d be facing off against her former campaign manager, and our current Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The Times Ledger suggest that de Blasio’s somewhat erratic approval ratings and “significant number of potential candidates” could put the Mayor in a “weakened position”. That, mixed with Hillary Clinton’s undeniably in NYC, could make her a shoo-in for city hall.
Clinton wouldn’t be the first failed presidential candidate to go on to have a lasting and influential political career. She’d join the ranks of our current Secretary of State, John Kerry, Former Vice President Al Gore and Senator John McCain, in proving their is (political) life after an unsuccessful presidential campaign.
