In early January “Salt Bae,” Turkish butcher Nusret Gökçe, opened his first NYC restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Shortly after the opening of Nusr-Et Steakhouse he announced plans to open a burger chain in the city which he mentioned would be called Salt Bae.
While Gökçe hoped to open his second NYC location in SoHo, it seems there might be a change of plans. According to a report by Eater the space at 220 Park Avenue South is covered in signs that read: #SaltBae coming soon.
Beyond the signage there isn’t much new information on what this space will become and whether or not it will be another steakhouse or the beginning of his burger chain. However, his steakhouse opened to many mixed reviews and was even dubbed a “public rip off” by the New York Post due to its high prices.
Considering the sign said “Salt Bae” coming soon and not necessarily “Nusr-Et” coming soon we have a feeling it’ll be the start of his burger chain…but stay tuned for updates on what this space will become!
