NYC’s peak cherry blossom season is a fleeting masterpiece. It’s here one second and gone with a gust of wind the next, meaning that it’s currently time to go big or go home.
If you want to escape the massive crowds in the city parks, we have the perfect spring day trip for you.
Dassai Blue Sake Brewery in Hyde Park, NY is hosting a stunning, open-air Cherry Blossom Festival, and the final dates are happening this weekend: April 18-19, 2026.
The best part? Admission is completely free.

Sip, Shop, and Stroll
Picture this: you are laying out a picnic blanket under a canopy of vibrant pink petals. You have a glass of premium, locally brewed Junmai Daiginjo sake in your hand. It is the ultimate spring weekend vibe.
Beyond the breathtaking floral views, this festival is a celebration of the community.
You can eat from regional Hudson Valley and NYC-based food vendors while you explore the gorgeous grounds.
Expect to feast on freshly prepared sushi, Japanese beef stew, Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes), and bites from the Cousins Maine Lobster truck!

Local artisans will also be setting up shop, making it a great spot to discover unique goods. You can shop for indigo-dyed fabrics, handcrafted ceramics, and seasonal Japanese wagashi.
There is also a ton of programming on the schedule.
You can expect a live performance each day at 2:30 PM on the lawn stage, featuring the Samurai Sword Soul theater group on Saturday and traditional Taiko drumming on Sunday!
Seafood lovers won’t want to miss the impressive live tuna cutting show and sashimi-grade tuna block sale, happening at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM daily.
Make a Day Out of It
The brewery is located in Hyde Park, NY, which is roughly a two-hour drive from NYC. The historic town is the perfect place to explore after your sake tasting, especially since the area is about to get even cooler.
Why? Because after a three-year hiatus, the beloved Hyde Park Drive-In is officially making a comeback! A new operator has stepped in to revive the theater for the upcoming 2026 season.
While you can’t catch a double feature under the stars just yet, it is the perfect excuse to get familiar with the neighborhood before adding the retro theater to your summer bucket list.
Grab your friends, pack a blanket, and get ready for a truly unique spring escape.
