Anime fans and 90’s kids, get ready!
Sailor Moon, one of Japan’s most successful cultural exports to the States after Pokemon, is coming to New York this year in the form of a live-action musical. The franchize had enormous success in the U.S. after its television debut in 1991 and, as a part of the Sailor Moon 25th Anniversary project, the masterminds behind the hit manga and anime are bringing some of that Sailor-girl magic to the stage.
The New York performance of “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” will be taking place at the PlayStation Theater for three shows in March. The first on March 29 at 8 pm, and the latter two on March 30 at 1 and 5 pm.
The show will be performed entirely in Japanese by an all-female cast but live English subtitles will be broadcast (we’re assuming on a giant screen in the background). Tickets range from $30-$75 and are available through the sailormoon-official.com website.
