The iconic cheese shop, Murray’s Cheese, is now getting into the Mac & cheese business (rightfully so) and opening their first restaurant dedicated to the cheesy comfort food this weekend!
Murray’s Mac & Cheese will open next to their flagship store on Bleecker Street, and is a fast-casual concept that’s accessible to all. As should be expected, the restaurant will feature an array of rich and unique mac & cheese offerings with everything from signature dishes to customizable ones.
There will be 10 cheese varieties to choose from: Parmigiano-Reggiano, Feta, Pepper Jack, New York Cheddar, Fontina, Raclette, Gruyere, Mozzarella, Black River Blue, and Burrata; and a handful of other adds-ons that include several types of veggies, meats, sauces, and toppings (cheese whisps, crispy onions, and cheese sticks).
Aside from the customizable options and add-ons, Murray’s Mac & Cheese will also have a list of six signature options to choose from that include Murray’s Classic (made with blend of secret cheeses), Buffalo Chicken (with NY cheddar and blue cheese), Carbonara (made with fontina and mozzarella), French Onion (made with gruyere and raclette), BBQ (made with pepper jack), and Breakfast (made with with sausage, bacon, cheddar, and eggs but will only be offered over the weekend).
The restaurant was brought to life in collaboration with New York pasta maker Sfoglini, and will exclusively use their radiator pasta in all of the Mac &. Cheese dishes. As mentioned in Murray’s Mac & Cheese announcement, “Sfoglini’s radiator pasta is made using only two ingredients – organic durum semolina and water, making it the perfect base to capture the flavors of our mac & cheese options. The shape of the pasta also serves a purpose, each nook and ruffled edge acts as a vehicle to have sauces and add-ons incorporated into every single, cheesy bite.”
Murray’s Mac & Cheese will host their soft opening on Sunday, February 24 with limited hours and menu options from Tuesday, February 26 through Thursday, February 28. They will officially open to the public with their full menu next Friday, March 1.
