NYC is gradually transforming into a winter wonderland: the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony is coming up, ice rinks across the city are welcoming skaters, and igloo dining has become the preferred way to eat out. (We wouldn’t expect anything less.)
230 Fifth, one of NYC’s most iconic rooftop igloo bars, is officially open, embracing the holiday spirit, and accepting reservations (though walk-ins are welcome, particularly for smaller groups).
The igloo wonderland typically opens in mid-to-late November and remains open until April. As of years prior, igloos are first come, first served for walk-ins, and some of the igloos can accommodate as many as 25 standing guests at a time.
230 Fifth’s Rooftop Igloo Bar is wildly popular in NYC each year as the weather cools: they’re fully heated (though they do still recommend bringing warm clothes, especially on freezing evenings) and offer incredible panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline!
If you’re feeling particularly chilly, you can indulge in a boozy hot chocolate – also in tasty in additional flavors, like mint — or their Apple Pie Cider and Hot Spiced Mulled Wine. There are plenty of other hot drinks to order as well as a brunch menu if you plan to visit the igloo earlier in the day on weekends.
Though visitors must be 21+ to enjoy, younger guests can be admitted with a parent except on Fridays and Saturdays after 7 p.m. You can learn more about 230 Fifth’s Rooftop Igloo Bar and make your reservations on the bar’s website.
If you’re looking for more cozy wintertime cocktails and Instagrammable holiday moments, our favorite holiday-themed pop-up bars will certainly do the trick. (Santa might swap out the milk you left him and opt for something from one of these locales!)
