Nothing says relax and detox like pizza and a good sauna session.
At Roberta’s in Buswick you can now enjoy your weekend ‘za with a bit of zen. The wood-burning sauna attached to the well-known pizza shop was created in partnership with HotBox Mobile Sauna (a sauna on wheels) to bring some warmth to New Yorkers this winter; and truthfully, the name fits right in. (A HotBox sauna and a hot box of pizza? Yes..? No..? Stretching it? We don’t think so.)
The 144-square-foot sauna fits up to 10 people and will be open for reservations on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 9 pm. However, walk-ins are also welcome! As for Sundays, reservations are only open for groups of 5 or more.
Each session lasts an hour and a half, and a robe and towel can be purchased for just three bucks. The toasty sauna is kept at 180-degree, and the shop recommends doing 5 to 15 minute rounds in the sauna, stepping out to cool down in between with their cool outdoor shower.
So what do you need? Bring a swimsuit, a water bottle, sandals, and an appetite for pizza! Although pizza isn’t included in your session, there’s no way you’re going out there without grabbing a slice (or pie).
Note: if you’re looking to possible do a small gathering there, the sauna is open 7 days a week for private events and party rentals.
