NYC is going back to its punk roots this weekend thanks to the CBGB Festival.
With Iggy Pop and Jack White at the helm, the one-day-only event “rooted in rebellion, fueled by raw energy, and defined by an underground legacy” will allow rockers to revel in the genre’s next best bands. Lace up your Converse sneakers and meet us at Under The K Bridge Park in Greenpoint this Saturday. (Psst: take the subway; there’s no place to park once you arrive.)
All about this weekend’s CBGB Festival
Though some of us are too young to have experienced CBGB in all of its glory, we’re all for honoring the venue’s legacy and celebrating the new class of bands looking to break the rules like the OG musicians that graced the club.
Perhaps one of the most anticipated concerts of the fall, this Brooklyn gathering features 21 bands across three stages, including:
- Angel Du$t
- Cro-Mags
- Destroy Boys
- Gorilla Biscuits
- Iggy Pop
- Jack White
- Johnny Marr
- Lambrini Girls
- Lip Critic
- Lunachicks
- Marky Ramone
- Melvins
- The Molotovs
- Murphy’s Law
- Pinkshift
- Scowl
- Soul Gio
- Teen Mortgage
- The Damned
- The Linda Lindas
- YHWH Nailgun
According to the event, which is a product of Bowery Presents, the fest “pays tribute to NYC’s gritty, sticker-covered past through the lens of modern punk. The lineup connects punk’s originators with its fiercest future voices, all answering one core question: Who would be playing at CBGB today?”
In between sets, snack on bites from local eateries, explore CBGB installations (including relics from the OG venue), and make sure to stock up your collection with new and vintage band merch.
Tickets are still available online beginning at $149. Should you need, email info@bowerypresents.com to request ADA and accessibility accommodations.
See you Saturday — rain or shine. (Keep in mind: no refunds.)
