If you love Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People but their price tags mean you window shop these brands more than anything then oh, do we have news for you! Reclectic just opened its first New York City location, and it’s selling items from these brands at affordable, yes, affordable, prices.
Reclectic is a thrift store concept from URBN, the parent company of lifestyle brands including Anthropologie, Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Nuuly. And the store is selling clothes (including mens), shoes, and accessories from the brands all for a fraction of their usual price. Their website states, “Reclectic’s assortment skews heavily toward Women’s Apparel & Accessories, but is location specific. Most locations carry a small assortment of Men’s & Home products; however, inventory levels can vary.”
Items are priced 50-60% off retail, clocking in at $50 or below, though most hover around the $20-$30 mark. How is this possible, you ask? Well, some of the items aren’t new. Rather a good chunk of items are recent returns. Though you can find some new overstock items and new with tags items. Tag categories are as follows:
- Blue, Green, & Pink Tags: Full-priced items that are retail-ready merchandise free of any defects
- White & Yellow Tags: Pre-loved garments that are like-new or in good condition
- Orange Dot: Pre-loved merchandise with minor damage that is typically repairable
- Black Dot: Pre-loved merchandise with more noticeable damage that is sometimes repairable
Essentially, the store is giving outlet meets NYC, with items ranging in sizes from 00-24 and XXS-3X.
Reclectic opened on Friday, March 28th, and while we have heard some rumblings of long lines forming of eager shoppers waiting to get their hands on great deals, others–particularly those that showed up early–have said that they waltzed right in and had an easy, breezy shopping experience. On the same note, some shoppers who arrived later in the day did mention the store felt a bit messy with most of the clothes feeling overly picked through.
Oh, and a pro tip before heading over: the store doesn’t have an actual fitting room but you can try on clothing over your clothes, so bear that in mind when you get dressed in the morning before heading over. And we do recommend trying things on as all sales are final.
Reclectic is situated in the basement level of Urban Outfitters’ Herald Square location.
