Another staple NYC event is out for 2020.
For the first time in its 87-year history, Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, which of course features the iconic Rockettes dancers, is canceled.
A press release from the company which puts on the show and also owns Madison Square Garden, MSG Entertainment, read:
We regret that the 2020 production of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, presented by Chase, has been canceled due to continued uncertainty associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We are disappointed for everyone involved with the show, as well as for the many fans who make the Christmas Spectacular a cherished part of their holiday tradition.
The show was supposed to run from November 6 to January 3, and already-purchased tickets will be automatically refunded. They plan on running the show in 2021, with tickets already on sale.
According to the New York Post, they are also laying off 350 employees due to continued COVID-19 closures.
