Oh my gourd, if you have yet to experience Bronx Zoo Pumpkin Nights, you’re not doing spooky season right.
The second-annual spectacle is joining the ranks of the best Halloween events in NYC, and with good reason: a half-mile display of 5,000+ pumpkins adorn the attraction and highlight the amazing ecosystems of our planet.
Once the sun sets, the luminous jack-o-lanterns expertly carved to look like our favorite animals — bears, otters, cheetahs, the list goes on — give visitors a unique perspective on the Amazon rainforest, Himalayas, African Savanna waterhole, and beyond.
Trust us when we say, these Halloween decorations with an animal twist make for a great evening out.
What to expect at Bronx Zoo Pumpkin Nights
In addition to stunning scenery, there’s plenty of other things to do once at the zoo, making the event a perfect Halloween event for NYC kids and adults alike.
Expect great bites with an expanded offering of visiting food trucks. Last year included options such as pizzas and fried chicken to offerings from Harlem Seafood Soul. Plus, there will be kid-friendly games (think giant Jenga and bean bag tosses) along with pumpkin carving demonstrations, in the event you need a bit of inspo for your stoop.
When does the event take place?
Visitors are welcome on Thursdays through Sundays from September 26 to October 13 from 7-10pm and October 17 to October 27 from 6:30-10pm. The last entry for attendees is at 9pm, so be mindful when planning your outing.
How do I get tickets?
Visit the Bronx Zoo website for tickets. Admission is $34.95 for adults 12 and up and $24.95 for children ages 3-12 on Thursdays and Sundays. Tickets are $36.95 for adults and $26.95 for children on Fridays and Saturdays.
We love a visit to the zoo at any point during the year, but something about this autumnal celebration holds a special place in our animal-loving hearts.
