All you Whole Foods lovers in New York, rejoice! The cost of groceries from Whole Foods Market have already started going down today (Aug. 28), and it’s all thanks to Amazon.
Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods Market closed closed today, and with that prices are being cut on items in markets across the country.
To start, Amazon stated in a recent press release that “Whole Foods Market will offer lower prices on a selection of best-selling staples across its stores, with much more to come.”
With time, Amazon will begin using the Amazon Prime membership feature as a customer rewards program at Whole Foods, “with special savings and other in-store benefits.”
These price cuts will put pressure on large grocery competitors, like Walmart. According to Bloomberg’s numbers, some items at NYC locations dropped as much as 43 percent.
Produce that made this list of price cuts include organic bananas, organic apples, organic avocados, tilapia, and salmon filets.
This news is something all Whole Foods shopper can smile about.
