If you saw the line that wrapped around the corner of Spring and Thompson Streets this morning, no there wasn’t a celebrity sighting or an open house with an incredible deal on a SoHo apartment. The line of dozens was rather gathered to try bagels and *pause in preparation* escargot.
Viral bakery, PopUp Bagels, and cronut creator, Dominique Ansel, have teamed up for a weekend-only collaboration that combines a chewy New York bagel with a French delicacy.
From today through this Sunday, New Yorkers can try their Parmesan Gruyère Bagel with Garlic Butter Escargot Schmear. The glutenous bagel comes fresh out of the oven and ready to rip, perfectly complimented by a combination of cream cheese, crème fraîche, fresh herbs, and garlic escargot sautéed in brown butter that’s topped with parmesan panko breadcrumbs.
If you’re a garlic lover like we are, don’t let the snails scare you. It’s a delicious combination that works extremely well with the buttery, chewy bagel. We definitely recommend a try, even though it’s a bit of splurge ($18).
The bagel launched at 8am on Friday, April 19th and sold out in just one hour! So if you’re trying to get your hands on this collab, you’ll want to be extra early either tomorrow or Sunday. Doors open at 8am daily. Bagels will be available until sold out.
