Known for their “dessert drinks” (or brown sugar bubble teas), the popular Taiwanese shop Tiger Sugar has just opened a location in Chinatown.
The Taiwan-based company is best known for their unique brown sugar boba milk teas with cream mousse—which they claim to have been the first to make in Asia. The drink is made with their homemade tapioca boba, milk, a cream mousse on top, and a brown sugar syrup that coats the cup. Tiger Sugar recommends shaking your drink 15 times before drinking to throughly mix the layered flavors, however, in doing so the brown sugar drips through the milk giving it it’s distinctive “tiger stripes” along the sides of the cup.
Tiger Sugar opened their first location in North America earlier this year with a shop in Flushing, Queens. The sweet dessert drinks have such a cult following that when the store opened the popular milk teas were in such high demand that each person was limited to the number of brown sugar milk teas they could order! Due to its wild success in Queens, the brand then opened a location in Brooklyn, and now they’ve finally opened one in Manhattan’s Chinatown area.
The boba tea shop is officially open daily from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. at 197 Canal Street.
