If you ask us, one of the coolest things about Florence, Italy is its historic wine windows. The city’s wine culture dates back over 3,000 years, and you can literally stick your arm in these little holes in the wall and pull it out with a glass of wine in hand–it’s literally wine-to-go right at your fingertips.
And now you don’t even have to hop on a plane to experience this for yourself!
Williamsburg’s Please Tell Me, a bar inspired by classic Japanese listening rooms, will soon have their very own Florence-inspired wine window. The wine window will open on Wednesday, April 10th during the bar’s weekly Winyl Wednesday party–a night where wine and vinyl collide.
According to the NY Post, owners Eric Griego and Austin Woolridge are introducing the wine window as a way to increase revenue.
Griego told Side Dish:
We were talking about the window, and we wanted to do something kitsch, like having a DJ, but our chef was adamant that we should be known in the neighborhood for our charming outdoor space — and the wine window.
Guests can grab a glass of new world wines from unique places like Merlots from Mexico, Syrahs from Japan, and Whites from Slovenia. You can sip your wine on the bar’s patio or take it to go with a mini charcuterie-style sandwich (as per the NYS to-go alcohol policy).
Prices will range from $9 to $15.
The wine window will be open on Wednesday nights from 5pm – 10pm as well as on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch (weather permitting) to coincide with the opening of Please Tell Me’s outdoor seating.
