The Brooklyn Bridge Park pop up pool debuted in 2012. Now, plans are in the works for a permanent one!
Pop ups are everywhere and the wildly popular swimming pool in Brooklyn was the definition of pop up success- it’s now getting a permanent location. The pool has proven to be one of the waterfront park’s most popular attractions over the years despite the fact that it only had an initial five year contract.
Unfortunately the park plans to demolish the current structure after the 2018 summer season and move the pool to a different location.
The park has announced that the new pool will be located in Squibb Park. Of course there will be a few logistical things to consider, especially the $10–$15 million price tag that the proposal comes with. However, the community will have more of a chance to be involved with the permanent pool plans, especially in regards to the size and possible concession options.
Don’t fret, the pop up is still open for the 2018 season and you can stop by for a quick dip any day starting June 27th until September 9th from 11:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.
