Winter is here, and that means ice rinks are open!
South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 is home to yet another ice rink and holiday market in the city! This gorgeous, waterfront winter wonderland was approved by NYC’s Landmarks Preservation Commission in the fall of 2018 and is returning for a second year of gorgeous wintry bliss.
The Winterland Rink is slightly smaller (5,400 square-feet) than the one at Rockefeller Center (which is 8,500-square-feet). However, the entire rooftop area is nearly 30,000 square-feet in its entirety, and includes not only an ice rink, but a small winter food market, skate shop, and “warming hut” with food and a bar, too! As Pier 17 mentions, “for kids (and kids at heart), the festive fun continues throughout the season with skate lessons, curling, broomball, and fitness classes.”
The rooftop ice rink offers gorgeous panoramic views of the city as well as the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, and other landmarks. The Winterland Rink will be open seven days a week, with fun weekly programming including themed playlist skates, special pricing for the neighborhood community, group and private instructional skate lessons, and much more.
Daily skating tickets are available for purchase online, here!
