Earlier today (Wednesday, January 15), a giant floral peacock popped up in Rockefeller Center, right in the same spot where the huge Christmas tree stood only a few days prior.
Considering NBC’s headquarters is located right at 30 Rock, and they’ve been amping up promo for their new streaming service named “Peacock” (also their logo), we’re putting two and two together and figuring it is a new promotional installation!
The colorful bird looks to stand at around 18-feet tall (looking at photos, it appears to be around the same height as the Prometheus statue in front of the ice skating rink, perhaps slightly bigger). The topiary is blooming with gorgeous cobalt blue flowers and greenery.
NBC announced the name of their streaming service back in September, and it is set to roll out in April 2020 with over 15,000 hours of content including favorites like The Office and Parks and Recreation, as well as new original shows and movies. Stay up to the date on their website here.
An investor day where Peacock will likely be *officially* unveiled is taking place tomorrow, Jan. 16 according to this press release, so snag your photo op before everyone else knows about it!
