New York City wouldn’t be New York City without Katz’s Delicatessen and Veselka, and us New Yorkers are in for a real treat as the two iconic establishments have decided to collaborate together on a deliciously mouthwatering treat.
On the heels of Veselka’s highly anticipated new Williamsburg location, Katz’s Delicatessen and Veselka have are collaborating for the first time ever. The product: pastrami pierogis.
The pastrami pierogis, aptly named Pastrogis, are made with Katz’s legendary pastrami as the filling of the signature Ukrainian dumpling. The recipe went through weeks of testing and trials by both restaurants.
Jake Dell, owner of Katz’s Deli, stated:
We are thrilled to partner with Veselka to give the gift of NYC’s classic pastrami and pierogi to foodies nationwide. We love having the capability to ship these exclusive and iconic tastes across the country, making it possible for everyone to experience and provide a bit of nostalgia to those who may have moved away from the city.
Limited quantities of the pastrogis will be available daily for only one month at Veselka’s new Williamsburg location, currently slated to open on June 5th.
If you can’t make it into Veselka don’t fret–a limited number of pastrogis will also be available on their website for shipping nationwide.
Tom Birchard, owner of Veselka, echoed Dell’s excitement, stating:
At Veselka, we’re always looking for innovative ways to showcase our Ukrainian heritage while celebrating the diverse culinary landscape of NYC. Partnering with Katz’s allows us to do just that, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with both our customers and theirs.
In addition to the pastrogis, the two establishments also introduced The New York Classics Package featuring Veselka which includes one dozen of Veselka’s classic potato pierogis, Katz’s hand-carved pastrami, and all the classic fixings. This package is available for the next three weeks via Katz’s nationwide shipping program.
