Glace, an ice cream shop that opened on the Upper East Side last year, recently took NYC by storm when their mouthwatering S’mores Hot Chocolate went viral on social media–like, people literally lost it.
And while you can’t always tell right away whether or not a viral food trend is worth it, lines outside the shop taking upwards of 30 minutes attested to the fact that this hot chocolate actually was worth it.
Here’s the deal: the decadent hot chocolate is rimmed with an over-the-top torched marshmallow fluff and topped with a scoop of whipped cream And while its price tag of $10 can seem like a bit much, it truly is like nothing you’ve ever had before.
With that being said, spending $10 every time you want the sweet treat–which, if you’re anything like us, is practically every day–definitely adds up. So we were quite delighted when we stumbled across Instagram user Jessie Jane Daye who shared the recipe on how to make the viral S’mores Hot Chocolate right at home!
In other words if you don’t have your hands on a mini torch yet, you’re going to want to add one to your cart ASAP.
Glace’s S’mores Hot Chocolate Recipe
- Marshmallow fluff
- 4 cups whole milk
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup semisweet chopped chocolate
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Mini Torch
- Whipped cream
In a medium saucepan add whole milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Heat over medium-low while whisking continuously. Add the chopped chocolate and vanilla and whisk until the chocolate is melted. Turn off heat.
Prepare the marshmallow fluff by adding a generous scoop to a piping (or ziplock) bag and piping onto the rim of the mug. The fluff will easier stick to a paper cup, but if you’re using a regular mug simply pull the fluff over the rim so it doesn’t just slide into the mug when piping it.
Using your mini torch lightly burn the fluff (like you’re torching crème brûlée) and pour your melted hot cocoa mixture into the mug. Top with a scoop of whipped cream and more chopped chocolate (or even crumbled graham crackers!)
