Leslie, Ron and the gang are back in Pawnee for a special occasion.
Yes, beloved sitcom Parks And Recreation is returning to our screens to give us some much-needed isolation self-care. On April 30, the show that ran from 2009-2015 will air a special, one-off scripted episode for COVID-19 relief. [Featured Image: Parks And Recreation, Instagram]
At 8.30pm (ET), the special will air on NBC. It aims to raise money for the country’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which assists the heightened strain on food banks across the nation.
The special will even be set amidst the pandemic crisis, following lead character Leslie Knope’s (Amy Poehler) isolation. She seeks to keep in touch with her friends and colleagues while they keep socially distant.
Among the cast are old-favorites Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, Rob Lowe, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Jim O’Heir and Retta. It has also been teased that “special guest stars from the Pawnee universe may pop in” as well.
“Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money,” said Mike Schur Parks and Recreation creator. “I sent a hopeful email to the cast and they all got back to me within 45 minutes. Our old Parks And Rec team has put together one more 30-minute slice of (quarantined) Pawnee life and we hope everyone enjoys it. And donates!”
Anyone who wishes to donate to the COVID-19 Response Fund can do so via this website. State Farm and Subaru of America will both make matching donations of $150,000. These will be added to donations from NBCUniversal and the Parks And Recreation team to bring the total of matching donations to $500,000.
