Ever find yourself thinking why checking out or returning a book can’t be more convenient?
It might seem hard to believe, but yes people still frequently go to the library to check out a book and enjoy the peacefulness that can be found inside. However, some of us might not have the time to return a checked out book or pick one out during our hectic day to day lives. Good news is the New York Public Library is coming to the rescue with their three new red bookmobiles that will drive around Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.
With around 1000 books for all ages found inside and two employees on board, you’ll be able to do it all from browsing at curb-side, checking/returning/renewing books and even signing up for a NYPL card. This new service is an attempt to provide areas with limited access to a branch with the service they’re looking for. Currently, the Grand Concourse Library in the Bronx is under renovation, so the bookmobile is hitting the streets in June to assist the residents. As for Staten Island and Manhattan, you can catch the red trucks out and about in the fall. For more info on the routes, head to their website.
