As I scrolled through my social media feed I came across an image taken of a flyer offering a ghost hunter service. Naturally, I had to look into who this ghost hunter was, and whether or not we should get her in touch with the New Yorker that’s been chronicling the events occurring at his haunted Manhattan apartment!
The flyer is handwritten and has quirky image of the woman behind the paranormal services, reading “Ghost Problems??? Call an Expert Janice Gunter Ghost Hunter.”

The flyer urges you to contact Janice for her services through Facebook, which has over 3-thousand followers. She has a spirit that can’t be replicated, and a quirky sense of humor that she shares with us through her posts.
And of course October is when “ghosts are bigger in number,” according to this voicemail left for Janice by fellow Ghost “Hunter” Franz Gumper.

As it turns out, these ads have surfaced in local shops and throughout city streets since 2015. And the woman behind it is truly a character.
No, really, it’s just a character. Janice Gunter is played by actress and comedian Elizabeth McDonough.
Janice Gunter: Ghost Hunter is a web series that began around the time the flyers initially surface. “Ma” does most of the filming, Janice does the hunting, and they record it all out of their haunted home in Bay Ridge. While the web series came out in December of 2015, there is now an “Internet show.”
There was a brief hiatus between the beginning of the web series and now, but that’s because Janice had to go out and document her hunts! The paranormal stand no chance against her sleuthing skills.

Janice with the sixth sense certainly marches to the beat of her own drum.
