To kick off the 2024 travel season, Tripadvisor released the first of its Travelers Choice Awards for 2024: the Best of the Best Destinations, revealing the most sought-after destinations for the year by Tripadvisor reviewers.
With roughly 81% of Americans planning vacations in 2024, it’s set to be another busy year!
In 2023, our beloved city was declared the 2nd best city for nightlife in America, and late last year, NYC Ranked the 3rd best city in the World, but we’re starting 2024 topping a list!
According to stats studied by TripAdvisor pinpointing the No. 1 Top Destination in the World, NYC tops the U.S. for the second year in a row. It also ranks #25 worldwide for 2024, the only U.S. destination to win on the global stage.
While Asia dominates the Trending Destinations list globally, and Florida and California cities take the top three spots in the U.S.-based list, Brooklyn has been named the #4 Trending Destination in the U.S. for 2024. According to travel professionals, travelers are headed to the borough to take in art tours, theme parks, bars, and photography tours that have caught their eye.
Identifying places that have seen the most significant year-over-year growth in interest, the Trending list features several capitals of cool, from Brooklyn to Provincetown, MA, and Portland, OR.
As far as the global ranks, the reigning champion, Dubai, has been named Top Destination in the World for the third year running, solidifying its position as Tripadvisor reviewers’ favorite destination. New York City, which offers something for every traveler, came in at no. 25 on the global travel list, but when ranking the top destinations in the U.S., NYC holds onto the No. 1 spot for the second year in a row!
Speaking of having something for everybody, NYC ranked #4 on the list of top food destinations. After all, we do have some of the best restaurants ever! At no surprise, New Orleans tops the list for its second year in a row, with Charleston, South Carolina, and Maui, Hawaii, landing right above New York’s placement.
