This morning (Jan. 13), Mayor de Blasio announced that New York City would be canceling all of its contracts with the Trump Organization, currently being run by the President’s sons.
“The President incited a rebellion against the United States government that killed five people and threatened to derail the constitutional transfer of power,” the Mayor said. “The City of New York will not be associated with those unforgivable acts in any shape, way or form, and we are immediately taking steps to terminate all Trump Organization contracts.”
There are three main agreements that they are working to terminate: the Central Park Carousel, Wollman and Lasker skating rinks (both also in Central Park), and the Ferry Point Golf Course in The Bronx.
A press release states that the Carousel is currently closed and termination will be effective 25 days after the City’s termination notice is delivered, and the Wollman and Lasker Rink agreements will terminate 30 days after written notice is received. As for the Ferry Point Golf Course, the city says the process is “more detailed and is expected to take a number of months.”
New York City doesn’t do business with insurrectionists.
We’re taking steps to TERMINATE agreements with the Trump Organization to operate the Central Park Carousel, Wollman and Lasker skating rinks, and the Ferry Point Golf Course.

De Blasio said the city has legal grounds to do so because he said that “it’s quite clear that the President committed a criminal act.” The city’s legal team says the language gives them the authority to terminate the contracts “at will.”
