With over 25,000 licensed food establishments in NYC, choosing the perfect spot to dine at can leave you feeling like you’re potentially missing out on something much better. Lists like NYC’s Top 100 Restaurants for 2025 according to the NYT and Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants of 2025 certainly help, and paired with an interactive element like Condé Nast’s map that shows which NYC restaurants are the best in the world you pretty much have a foolproof strategy to planning your next res.
And now New Yorkers have another resource to help make planning a dinner out a piece of cake: Starved.io.
Starved.io is recently launched site that serves as a one-stop shop surrounding NYC food buzz. The site aggregates the internet’s current food obsessions–pulling from resources such as Reddit threads and Instagram–and then organizes it all into a user-friendly, searchable database that includes over 2,700 New York restaurants.
Uses can filter between cuisine, foods, or neighborhoods, and sort results either by what’s trending or what’s the highest rated. Clicking on a restaurant then gives you even more information, including both an in-depth and a shorter TLDR overview, any achievements and accolades it’s received, Instagram posts that reference it, customer sentiment, and recommended dishes.

For example, the profile for Katz’s Delicatessen writes that it’s a “legendary Jewish deli known for its iconic, massive pastrami sandwiches that live up to the hype, despite long lines & high prices,” mentions that it has a a Bib Gourmand, includes a boatload of Instagram posts it’s featured in, and features a bunch of recommended dishes, starting with, of course, pastrami/the pastrami sandwich and ending with a cheesesteak.
The website writes:
Starved.io is an archive of references / opinions for restaurants. Its goal is NOT to provide or repost content. Rather it aims to link to great original content and offer an unbiased birds eye view of overall sentiment and trends across sources.
It would take 22.7 years to eat at every NYC restaurant, so Starved.io will certainly make the task of figuring out which restaurants are actually worth a visit way less daunting. Plus, think about dining out for a special occasion, like a birthday, anniversary, or even a first date–a bad restaurant can certainly make or break that experience!
