October is officially National Pizza Month, and New York City just received the ultimate reason to celebrate.
The prestigious, Italy-based 50 Top Pizza 2026 guide revealed its official world rankings at a ceremony in Naples.
While London’s Napoli on the Road snatched the top spot on the planet, New York City proved once again why it remains the undisputed capital of pizza.
A bittersweet crown for National Pizza Month
After holding the title of world’s best pizzeria for two consecutive years, Una Pizza Napoletana moved to the #2 spot globally.
While losing the global crown to London might sting a little, landing second place on Earth is still a massive triumph.

Still the undisputed #1 in America
Even with the global shakeup, Una Pizza Napoletana remains the #1 pizzeria in the United States.
Founder Anthony Mangieri continues his legendary, hands-on approach at his Lower East Side restaurant.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the shop still relies on Mangieri himself to hand-shape and bake every single wood-fired dough ball served.

New York City still dominates the global list
London might hold bragging rights for the top venue, but New York City leads all cities globally.
NYC boasts 7 pizzerias in the global top 100, outpacing both Naples and São Paulo.
Here are the other local favorites that made the world’s top 100:
- Don Antonio (#30)
- Ribalta (#35)
- L’Industrie Pizzeria (#71 — which also grabbed #1 slice shop in the U.S.)
- Stretch Pizza (#90)
- Audace (#92 — also awarded best cocktail list)
- Pizza Secret (#95)
