To help encourage social distancing, the NYC Parks Department has launched a new platform called “Parks at Home.”
Although NYC Parks are still open are people are allowed to get some fresh air each day, some are still much too crowded. For those who feel safer staying at home, or are quarantined and have to be there, you can still get a taste of the Parks without physically being there!
NYC Parks is scheduling activities day by day including lots of virtual tours, maps and classes, and they look super fun! Here are some, as shared on their website:
LIVE with the Urban Park Rangers
Join us and the Urban Park Rangers every Tuesday (weather permitting) for live adventures in the park! From scenic hikes to nature exploration activities, our live broadcasts are perfect for the whole family. Follow us on Periscope, Twitter, and Facebook at @nycparks to watch live. Turn on your notifications; we’ll go live on Twitter and Periscope first, then on Facebook!
Wednesday Walks in the Park (LIVE)
Tune in every Wednesday (weather permitting) to watch spring blossom and the trees leaf out on a live tour of a park. Follow us on Periscope, Twitter, and Facebook at @nycparks to watch live. Turn on your notifications; we’ll go live on Twitter and Periscope first, then on Facebook!
Meditation Moments
Take a break and unwind from it all with soothing meditative exercises by our instructors at Shape Up NYC set to serene video footages from our parks. Each Friday morning, we’ll post a new episode on our YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. Follow us at @nycparks and turn on your notifications to participate!
They will also have Fitness Mondays: Kitchen Workouts on Twitter!
Be sure to check out Parks at Home to see everything you can do “in” the parks, safely from your house.
