So the next time you’re thinking of planning a vacation, why not just stay put and plan a staycation instead?! A recent survey showed that as people look for more ways to save money, staycations have been deemed “the new normal” for Americans.
In fact, 44.4% of Americans prefer to go on domestic staycations than international vacations.
But where is everyone staycationing?
Global luggage storage firm Radical Storage set to find this out, surveying 2,000+ Americans to discover the most popular staycation destinations, and the results are in!
According to the data, not only is NYC a dream vacation destination, it’s also a dream staycation destination too! The study found that NYC is the most popular city for a staycation, with 30.7% of vacationing Americans having visited it.
And it’s not surprising why–NYC is one of the best big cities in the US, and not too long ago it was crowned the most interesting place in the world!
Plus, there’s endless fun to be had around NYC, whether you’d like to explore some of the world’s best museums, eat your way through all the city’s most delicious restaurants, enjoy the great outdoors in a stunning NYC park, or dance the night away at a club–we are, after all, pretty well-known for our nightlife!
And though NYC was crowned the most expensive city in the country, there are some fabulous free things you can enjoy around the city as well.
The study writes:
The most commonly visited iconic landmark in New York is Central Park in Manhattan which 26.5% of people say they have visited. Just behind this is Times Square (26%), and the third most popular New York attraction is the Statue of Liberty, visited by 24.6% of people.
So, stop packing your bags and start exploring all that NYC has to offer instead!
