Halloween is sending a little extra magic to the Big Apple this year! For the first time in six years, the spookiest day of the season falls on a Saturday, meaning little New Yorkers can enjoy a full day of trick-or-treating without worrying about school the next morning, while grown-ups across the five boroughs can make the most of a full weekend of Halloween festivities.
And Mother Nature seems to be joining in on the fun. While sweater-weather lovers might consider the forecast a trick, anyone with outdoor plans is in for a treat: Halloween is shaping up to be unusually warm and sunny in NYC!
NYC’s 2026 Halloween forecast
According to the National Weather Service, New York City is expected to see mostly sunny skies and a high near 66°F on Saturday, October 31.

AccuWeather is forecasting similarly pleasant conditions, with temperatures reaching around 63°F and a RealFeel® temperature of 66°F.

Either way, it looks like New Yorkers can leave the heavy winter coats at home while enjoying everything from neighborhood trick-or-treating to outdoor Halloween parties.
Will it be a record breaker?
Of course, this year’s forecast isn’t quite enough to break NYC’s Halloween temperature record.
That distinction belongs to 1946 and 2024, when temperatures tied at a balmy 81°F.
Still, with sunny skies and comfortable temperatures on tap, this Halloween is shaping up to be a particularly pleasant one for anyone planning to celebrate outdoors.
Happy almost halloween, New Yorkers! 👻
