The annual 2024 NYC Half Marathon is taking place this Sunday, March 17th.
25,000 runners will embark on a 13.1-mile journey through New York City, and they’re even given the unique opportunity to run through Times Square–only one of two times it’s closed each year!

What are the NYC Half Marathon start times?
This year, the 2024 NYC Half Marathon will take place Sunday, March 17th. Start times are subject to change but here’s the schedule as of now:
- 7 am Wheelchair Division
- 7:20 am Wave 1
- 7:50 am Wave 2
- 8:20 am Wave 3
- 8:50 am Wave 4
- 9:20 am Wave 5
What is the NYC Half Marathon route?
The NYC Half Marathon route begins on Washington Avenue near the Brooklyn Museum. Participants will then run through Prospect Park and over the Manhattan Bridge before racing along the Lower East Side, up to Midtown, and through Times Square before finishing in Central Park.

Where can I watch the NYC Half Marathon on TV?
If you can’t make it to the NYC Half Marathon yourself, fear not–it will also be streaming on TV.
- WABC-TV, Channel 7: 6 am – 10 am (coverage of the race, including features, interviews, and pro race look-ins)
- Pro Race Livestream: starting at 7 am (on ESPN2 and via the ESPN App)
What streets will be closed for the race?
Nearly 30 streets will be closed during the 2024 NYC Half Marathon. A full list is available here under “More Race Information.”
How will race day affect the NYC subway system?
Planned service changes on race day are as follows:
- Q Trains will operate between Prospect Park – Stillwell Av
- No 7 trains between 34 St-Hudson Yards & 74 St-Broadway; N trains rerouted to 96 St/2 Av (extra E & R service will operate every 8 minutes)
- Southbound 1 trains operate express between 96 St & Chambers St
