If you thought pickleball was a viable meet-cute, the debut NYC Footy Singles Leagues have swooped in to give our beloved racket sport a run for its money.
To get hearts racing on and off the field, NYC’s premiere soccer league is encouraging a little friendly competition amongst all skill levels. Why not enjoy a game and potentially meet someone in the process? (You were thinking about updating your fitness routine for the new year, so consider this an added perk!)
All about NYC Footy Singles Leagues
As mentioned, the next best date idea/NYC activity is happening right on the soccer field. This spring, the singles leagues will debut and enforce its typical 50/50 format over eight games. Even if you’re not quite at FIFA level, you’re of course welcome to join the game and start chatting. The leagues are as follows:
Brooklyn Bridge Park | Saturdays | 7v7 | All Skills (50/50 Singles League)
The expected start date for this league is between March 1st and March 15th. The kickoff time will be at 7pm at Pier 5’s outdoor turf. Singles/soccer stars should expect an eight-game season plus playoffs.
Per NYC Footy, the format is as follows: 7v7 Coed (including keeper) | 3 Male (on field) Maximum | Singles leagues are 50/50 leagues where you must be single to register/play! They have a three male maximum on the pitch, inverting the traditional representation seen on most coed pitches.
LES | Baruch Playground Sundays I 7v7 I All Skills (50/50 Singles League)
The expected start date for this league is between March 16th and March 30th. The kickoff time will be at 9am at the Baruch Playground’s new outdoor turf field. Like the preceding league, there will be eight games plus playoffs.
Per NYC Footy, the format is as follows: 7v7 Coed (including keeper) | 3 Male (on field) Maximum | 50/50 Leagues have a three male maximum on the pitch, inverting the traditional representation seen on most coed pitches.
