It’s never too late to pick up new skills — trust us.
If you didn’t get a chance to try out for that soccer team in middle school, now’s the time. NYC Footy leagues give us a dose of deja vu: after-school soccer matches, but for those who haven’t been in the classroom in a hot sec. (And those who might need a little extra help on the field!)
If you’re looking to connect with people in your neighborhood, get in a good workout, and try something new — yes, beginners are not only welcome, but highly encouraged — why not sign up for a soccer league this fall or winter?
Even if your kicks and dribbles could use some work, don’t be shy. It’s time to hit the field!
What to know about NYC Footy leagues (Yes, newbies welcome)
Let’s be honest: you look forward to those gym outings as much as a root canal, so why not add a fun element back into your fitness regimen? (Plus do you really want to wait on that long line for a spot on the elliptical?)
Soccer leagues at NYC Footy are divvied up by levels, days of the week, and locations so you can handpick a schedule that works well for you. Plus, it’s a good way to do a deep dive into the place you call home — especially if you’re new to the neighborhood. You could be the one to suggest an after-game meetups locally to get to know the team better over beers and burgers.
From Hoboken to Astoria, the Lower East Side to Crown Heights, leagues are popping up across the city and looking for committed players. (Competitive, but not too competitive, thankfully!) Games will take place throughout the season and single players or groups can sign up. (Prices are available here.)
Although the fall spots have been filled, sign-up for the winter season begins November 5th.
Take a good look at the schedule, find a slot that works for you and fetch the cleats out of your closet — it’s go time.
